Jarabacoa where spring is eternal, this beautiful municipality is located right on the Central Cordillera of the Dominican Republic, belongs to the province of La Vega. This beautiful valley is home to four great rivers. It limits the north with the city of La Vega and Jánico, to the south with Constance, to the east with Bonao and to the west with San José de las Matas. It is the largest municipality in La Vega with 665.9 km2 territorial extension.

Toponymy of the city of eternal spring

The name of Jarabacoa comes from the Taíno Indians who inhabited the island upon the arrival of the Spanish. This name means land of waters, the nickname of eternal spring is due to its warm climate of 22 ºC which is constant almost all year, although in winter its mornings and mornings are a little colder.

Jarabacoa was declared as a municipality the 27 September 1858 by the current president Pedro Santana. Its main economic activity is agriculture, this activity being their livelihood base.
